Hey there, summer adventurers! As we gear up for the thrill of summer camp, something is creeping into the minds of many parents—head lice! Yep, those pesky critters can put a damper on the excitement of campfire stories and s’mores. But don’t let the thought of unwelcome guests hitching a ride on your kiddo’s head spoil the fun!

Here are 5 tips to help you have a great summer!

1. HEAD CHECK BEFORE CAMP CHECK-IN

Examining your child’s hair at home for lice can stop the embarrassment that can happen at camp check-in. This video paired with the Nit Free Terminator Comb, can provide you with the resources you need to perform a proper head check.

2. SHARING IS NOT CARING

When it comes to preventing lice, sharing is not caring. Educate your children about not sharing hats, brushes, combs or hair ties. While it is unlikely for your child to get lice this way, it’s better just keep personal things personal.

3. MAKE A NO “SELFIE” RULE

While it sounds silly, when children take a “selfie,” play a game together on their smartphone or huddle closely to watch the latest TikTok, they have head-to-head contact. And in a matter of 3 seconds, your child may have contracted lice. Read about head-to-head contact here.

4.ENCOURAGE BRAIDS\HATS

One of the keys to preventing lice is to keep long hair tied up and wearing a hat whenever possible. While this isn’t 100%, it can provide a barrier to lice being able to transfer by head-to-head contact.

5. POST-CAMP HEAD CHECK

Leave camp with memories, not head lice. Use the video above, along with the Nit Free Terminator comb to perform a proper head check. If you do find head lice, do not panic! Head over to Simplicety At Home’s Amazon store to purchase the treatment kit, treat and get back on your way of enjoying summer!
